So we have reached our last session of life coaching with the fantastic Deborah Chalk. I am so sad it has come to an end as I have enjoyed every moment of working with Deborah and the other ladies.
Deborah offered to coach one of us directly in this session. I moved house last week and so the other ladies kindly suggested I received the one on one coaching to help me deal with this period of change in my life. As I have an aversion to change and moving house can be one of the most stressful things to do in life, I was extremely grateful for their suggestion.
I explained how I was feeling about the move and the fact that my two children will have to attend a new school and a new nursery, which I thought would be unsettling for them. Deborah suggested that I was scaring myself with the thought that the move would be detrimental to my children. She reminded me that IT IS JUST A THOUGHT. I may think it but it doesn’t mean it is true. Deborah asked me to imagine the Life Coaching Fairy paying me a visit, and sprinkling some extra special glitter over me, that makes me not able to think that thought again.
Deborah and the other ladies helped me pick this thought apart which helped no end. We used Byron Katie’s Judge Your Neighbour Worksheet to turn my thought around. I was to think of three reasons why moving house and having new educational settings was not detrimental to my children. This made me feel loads better about the move.
That drew the last session to a close.
What Have I Learnt?
Life coaching with Deborah has really given me a new perspective and a new way of thinking. It can be easy to get stuck in a negative thought cycle but Deborah has provided me with a variety of fantastic tools which I can use to stop any negative thoughts I do have from spiralling out of control. We know that the more we think a thought, the easier it is to think that thought. I think my go to tool would be from the Byron Katie work we did. If I have a negative thought I will simply ask myself “Is is true?”
The group work has been of great benefit to me. I feel I have found three new friends who are wholly supportive of me and who I am happy to open up to about my thoughts and feelings.
If you are feeling stuck in a rut in a particular part of your life, I can highly recommend life coaching and I can say you will be in very safe hands with Deborah. She is a natural life coach with a breadth of fantastic knowledge and experience. It has been an absolute pleasure.
If you are interested in working with Deborah as a life coach, she is offering a free 45 minute starter coaching session to my female readers who email her at firstname.lastname@example.org quoting the code ‘The Good Idea Fairy’ (This offer ends on September 30th and is for new clients only). So what have you got to lose?
