Congratulations if you are expecting a baby, it is a wonderful time in any woman’s life. With advances in medical science, we are now in the fortunate position to learn the sex of our baby whilst it is still in the womb. However, this can lead to a difficult decision as to whether you find out or not. Are you struggling to decide?
My husband desperately wanted to know the sex of our babies in both my pregnancies. He is quite the planner. I was totally undecided, and I thought well as not much changes for the chap during pregnancy (apart from general hormonal anger which tends to be directed towards them), I thought he can get involved in this. We were absolutely delighted to be told I was carrying boys with both pregnancies, but I must admit rather surprised as I come from a family of girls.
My friend’s brother came up with a great idea. He didn’t want to know the sex of his baby but his wife did. Difficult one! So they came up with a solution, they asked their sonographer at their 20 week scan to write down the sex of the baby on a piece of paper and pop it in a sealed envelope. If at a later date they then decided they both wanted to know they could open the envelope together. They hadn’t missed their opportunity to find out. In the end they waited until their baby arrived but I thought it was such a great idea, that I wanted to share it with you.
So that is my Top Tip:
If you can’t decide whether to find out the sex of your baby at your 20 week scan, ask your sonographer to write it down on a piece of paper and seal it in an envelope.
If you then come to a decision that you want to know the sex of your baby at a later date, you have not missed your opportunity. Just open the sealed envelope rather than booking in for another scan.
What do you think? Would this work for you and your partner?
