I love this quote – “When you can’t control what’s happening, challenge yourself to control the way you respond to what’s happening. That’s where your power is.”
When people or situations are getting you down, and you feel like nothing is within your control, it can be hard to move on. The key is to focus on where your power lies.
It is in your hands to control the way you react to that person or situation. Taking control of your response will give you your power back, and help you move on. The best thing you can do is decide not to react and not to be affected by it.
Similarly somone once said to me “you can’t control people or situations, only your reaction to them” and this has really stuck with me. When people behave badly, it is very often not to do with you. It could be they are dealing with their own trauma and you just happen to be on the receiving end of it. Often these people just need a bit of compassion, hard though it may be to give.
Just remember where your power is!
